Impinj IoT Device Interface Enables Deploying Impinj R700 at Scale
This update to the Impinj IoT device interface includes expanded capabilities to support deploying Impinj R700 RAIN RFID readers at scale.
We’re excited to announce the release of expanded capabilities for the reader configuration REST API, a developer tool that is a part of the Impinj IoT device interface supported on Impinj R700 RAIN RFID readers. This new expansion will enable our partners to design solutions to simplify the management and provisioning of Impinj R700 RAIN RFID readers.
This Impinj IoT device interface update is the latest example of our software evolution described in the recent Impinj Software Roadmap blog post, which outlined our intention to enable our partner ecosystem by building edge intelligence onto our readers. With the reader configuration REST API, Impinj is empowering Impinj software and solution partners with a modern developer tool to simplify system setup and configuration.
New REST API endpoints allow partners to update firmware, upload a custom application, configure host name, and set region. For example, a partner can now use this one API to configure an Impinj R700 reader instead of having to use both RShell and LLRP libraries. These expanded capabilities add to the RAIN RFID configuration functionality that was already in the reader configuration REST API.
In addition to the updated Impinj IoT device interface, Impinj has also released Impinj R700 firmware version 7.4. Particularly of importance for our partners who are deploying multinational enterprise RAIN RFID solutions, the Impinj R700 firmware version 7.4 adds support for nine new regions to the Impinj R700 global reader model. The Impinj R700 firmware version 7.4 has been updated to the Linux kernel version 5.4 to continue delivering enterprise-grade security. It also includes support for upcoming releases of the Impinj R700 reader model for Japan and the Impinj R700 antenna hub.
