What is the ‘Internet of Things’?
The Internet of Things is a network of connected items that can share and upload data to the internet—or to other devices—without human intervention. There are probably as many definitions of IoT as there are internet-connected devices, but most agree that in order to qualify, they must have these two components: items (e.g., apparel, pharmaceuticals, food, equipment, and more) with a unique identifier, and the ability to transfer data without human input
By connecting everyday items to the internet—or to an intranet, or to other devices—in order to share data within a larger ecosystem, the Internet of Things can even deliver that data to applications that can monitor, automate, and optimize those interactions. So when we connect items, we’re really learning from those connections and making them smarter.

RAIN RFID solves for the “unique identifier” part of the equation, so you can identify, locate, authenticate, and engage each item on an individual level, all in real-time. And it provides wireless connectivity of the item enabling identity, location, and authenticity data to be automatically transferred to other systems.
