Nordic ID Sampo S3 Fixed Reader Transforms Retail Operations
The all-in-one Sampo S3 RAIN RFID reader, featuring the Impinj E710 reader chip, boosts efficiency in retail environments with its speed, ease of use, and reliability.
Impinj partner Nordic ID, part of the Brady Corporation, has delivered uncompromising performance for more than eight years, providing comprehensive RFID solutions like point-of-sale systems and inventory management solutions. Nordic ID’s latest evolution in the Sampo RAIN RFID fixed reader line – the Sampo S3 – is an upgrade from Nordic ID’s previous generation Sampo S2, bringing even better sensitivity, speed, ease of use, and reliability to retail environments.
The Nordic ID Sampo S3 fixed reader is powered by the Impinj E710 RAIN RFID reader chip, which offers superior read sensitivity for long read range and improved read rate. The Impinj E710 reader chip also gives the fixed reader a higher level of integration, limiting the number of necessary components and reducing points of failure.
The all-in-one Sampo S3 includes an integrated antenna and edge computing capabilities, eliminating the need for external hardware. Its lightweight design, combined with integrated mounted brackets and support for Power over Ethernet (PoE), makes installation a breeze. One compact reader mounted under a table or on a wall is able to cover an entire retail point-of-sale setup. The Sampo S3 also has Bluetooth functionality for connectivity with devices such as smartphones.
The Sampo S3’s speed, reliability, and ease of use make it an ideal fixed reader throughout the retail environment, with applications such as:
- Assisted point-of-sale to offer real-time inventory visibility so retailers can find the items their customers need more quickly
- Self-checkout or mobile checkout, so customers can avoid long lines and make their purchases without waiting for help from staff
- Store exits to assist with loss prevention efforts
- Warehouse or back-of-store, so retailers can see their inventory status in real time, enabling them to find items for customers even if they aren't on the shelves
