Impinj Expands Global Support with Addition of Japan Country Manager
Impinj, Inc., the fabless semiconductor company whose patented Self-Adaptive Silicon® technology enables its two business lines: high performance radio-frequency identification (RFID) and semiconductor intellectual property (IP) products today announced the opening of its Japan office with the appointment of Gerry Shimauchi as Japan Country Manager, responsible for increasing market penetration and accelerating demand for the company's IP products.
Seattle, WA October 17, 2005 - Impinj, Inc., the fabless semiconductor company whose patented Self-Adaptive Silicon® technology enables its two business lines: high performance radio-frequency identification (RFID) and semiconductor intellectual property (IP) products today announced the opening of its Japan office with the appointment of Gerry Shimauchi as Japan Country Manager, responsible for increasing market penetration and accelerating demand for the company's IP products.
Mr. Shimauchi brings more than 20 years of experience in sales and management to Impinj. Prior to joining the company he held various management positions with semiconductor companies including MoSys, Nippon Sipex Corporation and TSMC Japan, the world's largest foundry. Additionally, Mr. Shimauchi served in senior management roles with Burr-Brown, Japan, later acquired by Texas Instruments, and Fujitsu Ltd., one of the largest electronics companies in the world.

Mr. Shimauchi is responsible for expanding Impinj's nonvolatile memory (NVM) licensing to both foundries and IDMs in Japan. In this role, he will assist with licensing Impinj's cost-effective NVM blocks to foundries as well as their customers. Applications for the company's NVM include tuning LCD display drivers, storing encryption keys for digital rights management (DRM) and general-purpose analog trim.
