Impinj and Yeon Technologies Partner to Address Escalating Demand for High Performance RFID Solutions in Taiwan
Pioneering RFID Solutions Provider to Resell Taiwan National Communications Commission (NCC) Certified Impinj Speedway™ Reader
Seattle, WA May 7, 2005 - Leading UHF Gen 2 radio frequency identification (RFID) tag chip and reader supplier Impinj, Inc. today announced an agreement with Yeon Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of the YFY Group providing value-added RFID services, to resell Impinj's high-performance, Speedway™ UHF Gen 2 RFID reader in Taiwan. The newest member of Impinj's expanding value-added reseller (VAR) program, Yeon Technologies deploys RFID solutions incorporating the Impinj Speedway reader for a variety of supply-chain and asset tracking applications.
ABI Research expects to see a significant increase in demand for RFID technology from Taiwanese companies in 2007. "As in other Asia-Pacific country markets, supply-chain companies in Taiwan are quickly realizing the significant supply-chain efficiency benefits, business process improvements, and value propositions that are possible with high-performance, RFID solutions at the pallet, case, and item-level," said Michael Liard, RFID and Contactless Research director at ABI. "The partnership between Impinj and Yeon Technologies is expected to help enable local product manufacturers and distributors to ramp up RFID solutions development and spur end-user adoption in Taiwan."
"Yeon Technologies' extensive market knowledge and progressive approach to RFID adoption support Impinj's global technology delivery strategies," said Dimitri Desmons, vice president of RFID marketing at Impinj. "We also share a common vision for the advancement of worldwide RFID standards and quality metrics." Impinj and Yeon Technologies are active members of leading RFID standards organization EPCglobal. In addition, Yeon Technologies is a founding member of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Auto ID Center, the leading global network of academic research laboratories in the RFID field.
"We are very excited to partner with Impinj to deliver the best RFID products and solutions to leading supply chain companies in Taiwan," said Yeon Technologies' President Nancy Tai. "Proven RFID technology is key to improving product supply-chain efficiency in our region, and we look forward to enabling RFID adoption in the coming months."
Successfully deployed in large retail and distribution environments worldwide, the Impinj Speedway reader received certification to operate in Taiwan under National Communications Commission (NCC) regulations. The Speedway reader supports a broad range of use cases at the pallet, case, and item level, delivers best-in-class read reliability and throughput, and includes a flexible software architecture that facilitates required maintenance and monitoring functions. In addition, the Speedway reader carries both EPCglobal's Gen 2 Compliance Certification and Interoperability Certification marks, which assure predictable hardware operation in system implementations.
Production quantities of the Speedway reader are available from Yeon Technologies and Impinj's other VAR and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners worldwide.
