New Firmware Update for Impinj Readers and Gateways

Impinj Octane 7.0 firmware is a major release that delivers new features for Impinj readers and gateways including Speedway, xArray, xSpan, and xPortal.

It’s time to upgrade! Impinj Octane 7.0 firmware is a major release that delivers new features for Impinj readers and gateways including Speedway, xArray, xSpan, and xPortal. Impinj Octane 7.0 upgrades the Impinj reader and gateway operating system (OS) to a new version of Linux that makes Impinj readers and gateways less susceptible to security vulnerabilities. In addition, new region support and regulatory certifications enable new Impinj Speedway R420 reader opportunities in Indonesia, Morocco, and Vietnam.

Impinj Octane version 7.0 is compatible with Impinj reader and gateway printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) versions 5 and 6. The upgrade takes just minutes and can be applied to readers and gateways individually or as a group. This firmware can be installed at no cost on readers and gateways with an active initial limited hardware warranty, extended warranty, enhanced maintenance contract, firmware update license, or Impinj ItemSense maintenance package.

Keeping your software up to date is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your Impinj product's security. Updating to Octane 7.0 now will also ensure that current Speedway-based solutions are Impinj R700-ready when these new readers are incorporated into your solutions. Please contact your Impinj authorized partner to get access to this new firmware.
