Zuma's unique long-range rewritability enables Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to develop pilot deployments quickly and inexpensively because these RFID implementations can more closely mimic existing barcode systems. For example, information can be written on the same tag at any point in the supply chain where additional bar code labels are typically used today. In addition, Zuma's rich feature set anticipates functionality from future RFID standards so that OEMs can future-proof their investments by launching pilots with Zuma today.
Many applications such as passport control, transportation and industrial automation have benefited greatly by exploiting read and write features from older RFID systems.
