AIM Global Announces Impinj as New Member
RFID Solutions Provider Joins Global Automatic Identification and Mobility Trade Association
Seattle, WA September 16, 2004 - AIM Global, the association for Automatic Identification and Mobility, today announced its newest member, Impinj Inc., the fabless semiconductor company whose patented Self-Adaptive Silicon® technology enables its high performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products.
AIM Global works to increase the understanding and adoption of Auto ID, RFID and enterprise mobile technologies through education, standards, and cooperation with other leading industry associations. As a member of AIM Global, Impinj will join other leading companies who are committed to the growth of automatic identification and mobility solutions through industry standards development, advocacy and the support of a global channel network. Started more than 30 years ago, AIM Global is the voice of Automatic Identification and Mobility technologies such as bar code, RFID, and enterprise mobile computing along with other data collection and management solutions.
Impinj was founded in May 2000 by legendary semiconductor expert Dr. Carver Mead and Dr. Chris Diorio, co-chair of the EPCglobal, Inc. Hardware Action Group that is responsible for establishing standards defining the interface between hardware components (primarily RFID tags and readers) in the EPCglobal Network. Impinj's RFID products, including Zuma™, address the mandates set forth by the world's largest retailers for low cost, long range, field-rewritable RFID systems that comply with EPCglobal standards. Impinj's advantages derive from its patented Self-Adaptive Silicon®, an integrated circuit design technology that enables high performance analog functions and nonvolatile memory, critical elements of RFID products.
"Impinj's involvement with the development of AIM Global's standards and educational materials for Automatic Identification and Mobility technologies will be a great asset," said Dan Mullen, President of AIM Global. "Impinj's proven track record for delivering key technology solutions and business models can be applied directly to AIM Global's initiatives that ultimately help companies in multiple industries become more competitive and profitable."
