Indy R500 RFID Reader Chip—Features and Benefits

The highly integrated Indy RFID reader chips and supporting software deliver the building blocks for a full range of UHF Gen 2 RFID readers, from short-range embedded modules to long-range dock door readers.

The Indy R500 RFID reader chip uses the same software architecture as the Indy R1000/2000 versions, and is drop-in compatible with the Indy R2000, enabling fast product development. Impinj designed the Indy R500 with a price to performance point optimized for access points, embedded RFID subsystems, workstations and basic handhelds.

The Indy R500 reader chip:

  • Provides the lowest overall system cost
  • Delivers an easy path to worldwide regulatory compliance
  • Supports platform compatibility with the industry-standard Indy reader chip product line
  • Meets requirements for price-sensitive applications with short range and small tag populations
  • Delivers a robust architecture that enables optimization for a variety of applications
    • Coherent IQ demodulation provides low RSSI variance, carrier phase, and optimal receive sensitivity
    • Integrated high-performance VCO that leads the industry with
-126 dBc/Hz phase noise, easing regulatory compliance, increasing Rx sensitivity, and improving DRM operation
  • Supports EPCglobal Gen 2 and ISO-18000-6C specifications, regional regulatory requirements and the full 840-960 MHz band
  • Includes protocol firmware, programming tools, radio drivers and schematics to enable quick time-to-market

Indy R1000 RFID Reader Chip—The Industry Standard

The Indy R1000 reader chip, as the world's largest deployed reader platform, is the industry standard. It supports a full of UHF Gen 2 RFID readers, from short-range embedded modules to long-range dock door readers.

The Indy R1000 RFID reader chip:

  • Enables a wide variety of handheld readers and embedded reader applications
  • Has best price for performance in the industry
  • Incorporates complete UHF Gen 2 standard transmit, receive, demodulation, and baseband functions
  • Integrates up to 90% of the components in a discrete reader design, providing for significantly smaller reader designs
  • Lowers design complexity, cuts manufacturing costs, and increases reliability
  • Enables longer battery life for handheld readers, power over USB for short range readers, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) for high performance, long range readers
  • Supports EPCglobal Gen 2 and ISO-18000-6C specifications, regional regulatory requirements and the full 840-960 MHz band
  • Supports low-level diagnostics, remote management and provisioning, and easy integration
  • Includes protocol firmware, programming tools, radio drivers and schematics to enable quick time-to-market

Indy R2000 RFID Reader Chip—Highest Performance Available in Industry

The Indy R2000 RFID reader chip addresses challenging RFID applications. It advances the R1000 design with:

  • Enhanced read accuracy and range via advanced carrier cancellation technology
  • Increased protocol configurability and access to advanced radio features
  • Improved transmit phase noise to ease support for global regulatory requirements
  • A robust architecture that enables optimization for a variety of applications
    • Coherent IQ demodulation provides low RSSI variance, carrier phase, and optimal receive sensitivity
    • Integrated high-performance VCO that leads the industry with
-126 dBc/Hz phase noise, easing regulatory compliance, increasing Rx sensitivity, and improving DRM operation
    • Controls for off-chip functionality to enable cost and performance optimization
