AEON® Embedded NVM Product Overview
The broad family of Virage Logic (formerly Impinj) AEON® NVM IP products (multiple-time programmable logic NVM) is enabling new features and functions in hot markets such as:
- Power Management: in-factory configuration settings requiring high voltage / extended temperature range operation
- Secure Media: encryption keys and counters for digital content protection requiring high reliability and resistance to reverse engineering
- Wireless (RFID, 802.11, BlueTooth, etc.): replacement of external EEPROM for trim and configuration settings requiring very low power
- Sensors and Precision Analog: post-package and in-field trim of precision components such as silicon clocks requiring small area and ease of use
These markets are of significant interest to semiconductor manufacturers and have two distinct characteristics in common: they are large, rapidly growing markets that drive wafer start demands at the world's leading foundries and they demand features and functions facilitated by the addition of relatively small bit-count embedded non-volatile memory (NVM).
- Ease of Integration—All AEON memory products are compatible with standard logic or mixed-mode CMOS processes, need no additional masks or processing steps, and can be found in the world's leading foundries
- Electrically Testable—True MTP allows for thorough production testing and advanced OTP features eliminate the need for UV erase
- Production Proven—Readily available, AEON memory cores have been proven in some of the world's highest volume applications
- Readily Available—With > 1000 different AEON configurations, there is an AEON memory product that will fit your application need and existing design requirements
- Scalable—AEON memory products scale to smaller feature sizes and Virage Logic continually adds to our offerings as new process nodes become available
- Self-Contained—With all necessary high voltage circuitry and oscillators included, AEON IP blocks can be programmed in the factory or in the field with no special voltage requirements
