Apparel Source Tagging
In support of the burgeoning retailer initiatives for the RFID-tagging of merchandise, Impinj has introduced innovative and efficient source tagging systems. Our unique combination of in-line and bulk RFID encoding and commissioning products for dedicated RFID tags provides scalability and adaptability to meet the needs of a wide variety of business processes. These methods complement the traditional printer-encoder approach that Impinj supports through our partners, allowing manufacturers to respond quickly to increased demand today and to optimize for performance, cost, and quality over time.

Dedicated RFID Tag Approach
Dedicated RFID tags, ones that suppliers apply and encode separately from other variable-data printed tags and tickets, allow manufacturers and service bureaus to configure dedicated non-printing in-line encoders and bulk encoding systems for a wide variety of apparel tagging and material flows.
In-line Encoding
In-line encoding allows packaging manufacturers to encode RFID tags at high speed in a continuous web. This method enables a manufacturer to encode batches of direct-apply RFID tags prior to final garment application
Bulk Encoding
Bulk encoding allows the manufacturer to encode tags after they have already been applied to the product and placed into a shipping carton. This solution achieves the maximum throughput and allows the RFID tag to be handled more like other trim components that are not SKU-specific.
Traditional Printer-Encoder Approach
Impinj works with our partners to support the development of printer-encoding approaches that deliver high quality RFID tags for manufacturers who wish to rely on their existing business processes.
