Impinj Wins Comet Award for Innovative Technology, Market Vision and Management Focus

SEATTLE, Wash. — September 3, 2002 — Impinj Inc., a fabless semiconductor company developing integrated circuit products for communication systems, today announced that it has received the "2002 Comet Award" from Communications Systems Design, CommsDesign.com and Electronic Engineering Times magazines. Each year, the editors of these leading electronics publications develop and evaluate a list of more than 70 of the "hottest young communication companies in the market." The editors review and rank the technological innovations, vision and focus of each company, then narrow the list to the 20 Comet Award recipients. Impinj will accept the Comet Award during a formal celebration to be held in conjunction with the Communications Design Conference (September 23-26, 2002, San Jose, Calif.) where the company will also be exhibiting. (Booth number 1132.)

"This third annual Comet Award honors companies that have the vision, focus, cool technology and risk-taking skills that allow them to become significant players in the communications market," said Patrick Mannion, Editor-in-Chief of Communications Systems Design magazine. "My colleagues at EE Times and CommsDesign.com and I feel that Impinj excels in all the categories that the Comet Award recognizes."

In addition to the Comet Award, Impinj has received the following electronics industry accolades since its unveiling in October, 2000:

  • Fabless Semiconductor Association's "Start up of the Year"
  • Red Herring's "Best of the Best Emerging Technologies"
  • MIT Technology Review's "one of the seven hot new technology start ups in 2001"
  • WSA's (the state of Washington's influential technology association) "Most Promising New Technology"

"Impinj is very pleased to be a Comet Award recipient," said William Colleran, president and CEO of Impinj. "This level of recognition by the discerning electronics editorial community is a significant accomplishment."
