Indy® SDK

Indy reader chips, the world’s most deployed UHF RFID reader platform, come with a feature rich software development kit (SDK). The SDK provides a robust API library and an extensive sample code library that will simplify application development. This SDK includes:

Impinj Indy® SDK

Host SDK   MAC Firmware
  •  USB/UART drivers for supported platforms

    • Windows® XP1
      • IA32 hardware platform
    • Windows® CE 5.0
      • PXA 270 hardware platform
  • Rich API library to control the MAC firmware

  • Demo GUI applications

  • Sample code

  • Library source code

  • Register-based interface to a single-state machine core

  • Gen 2 protocol control (to perform tasks such as inventory, read, write, lock, kill, select, etc.)

  • Performs all RFID reader modem operations

  • Flexibility to support worldwide regional operation

  • Access to metrics such as RSSI per tag information

  • Extensive inventory parameter configuration

  • Resides on ARM7 microcontroller

Indy Firmware 2.4 adds valuable new features including:

Impinj Indy® SDK 2.4 New Features

Feature Description
Fail Safe Boot-loader
  • Robust method of recovery during firmware update

  • Reliable remote upgrade capability

  • Does not require additional hardware

  • Same packet interface as current architecture

Windows® CE 6.0 Support
  • PXA 270 and PXA 168 hardware platforms

  • Widely used in embedded applications

  • C++ and C# sample applications provided

  • Full Indy API support via SDK

Advanced Monza® Features Support
  • FastID™ inventory allows users to read the EPC and TID in a single read operation for 220% faster access. This function is especially useful in authentication applications, where the serialized TID is critical data.

  • TagFocus™ mode improves read reliability when inventorying large tag population by providing improved ability to read the "hard to reach" tags.

  • Two-word block write improves throughput during encoding operations.

Advanced OEM Configuration  MAC initialization code to reduce host commands at startup
Design for Test (DFT) Built-in engineering test commands that enable fast development of engineering and production test capabilities
Japanese LBT Requirement Support Enables operation in Japan
